Is There Life After Death?

This is something that has been weighing heavily on my heart the last few days after seeing the posts and advertisements for a movie coming out this week. It was produced by the same people who produced, “The Sound of Freedom,” which was very good, even though it was tough to watch.

My concern with this new movie is that many people may end up having a false sense of security concerning eternity. Make no mistake; Satan is a liar and deceiver, and if he can lure people into religion and turning their life around with good works to make them feel as if they’re prepared for life after death, he’s more than happy to let them see light and have warm, fuzzy feelings, and see loved ones during a near-death experience.

I know that many people have truly experienced something, and I’m in no way discounting their experience or saying they just imagined it. I know of someone personally who, several years ago, had a heart attack and flat-lined as the first responders were working on him. He later told his wife that he was fully aware of everything going on, from the time he “died” and the emergency crew was working on him, to the operating room when the trauma team at the hospital was working on him. He described it to me as being above everything and looking down. His wife shared with me that he told her about details and things that were said that there’s no way he could have known unless he had actually seen what was going on. How can that be explained? I don’t know. I believe there are many things in life – and in death – that can’t be explained or understood.

I do know that whatever a person’s feelings are or whatever experience they may have had, or what friends or loved ones they may have thought they saw, the Bible is clear that, “…it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) When someone has a near-death experience, that’s not their appointed time if they’re brought back by a medical team. Yes, their physical body may flat-line, their vitals may be at such a level that a doctor “calls it,” but when their time actually comes, as determined by God only, they’re not going to come back or be brought back. Their soul will immediately go to either Heaven or Hell.

Yes, there is life after death. We don’t need a movie to prove that. The Bible tells us in no uncertain terms that we will continue to exist after we leave this life. But you MUST be prepared! There isn’t going to be a waiting area, a redo, a reset button, no do-over when it’s your appointed time. You will not be able to beg and plead with God for a second chance. PLEASE don’t wait to see if you have any kind of out-of-body experience or if you see a loved one who has passed on or see some kind of light or have some feeling of peace to let you know you’ll be okay. Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross of Calvary to pay the sin debt that EVERY person is born into; there’s no escaping that. But ONLY His perfect sacrifice paid the debt to satisfy the demand of holiness, and no amount of good deeds can ever come close to being a substitute. PLEASE don’t fall for the lies and deception of religion that say you must do this or must do that and hope that it will be enough. You can KNOW for sure, right now, that you’re ready for eternity by repenting of your sin, acknowledging that ONLY through the blood of Jesus Christ can that sin be cleansed and forgiven, and accepting Him as your Savior.

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (I John 5:13)

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (Isaiah 64:6)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto rightesouness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

PLEASE, please make sure that you are prepared for life after death!! Depending on the choice you make right now, you will either spend an eternity enjoying the comforts of Heaven, because you have repented of your sin and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and His payment for that sin; or you will suffer the consequences of a very real, horrifying eternity in Hell because you chose to continue with good deeds and rely on your feelings and experiences as being good enough.
